To succeed the Camon 17 series, TECNO has launched the Camon 18 series. The Camon 18 series consists of the 18 Premier, the regular Camon 18, the 18P, and the 18i.
Camon 18 Design :
There have been few differences in the Camon 18 series from the Camon 17 series unless you count the Vanilla version. The Camon 18 and Camon 18 Premier both have high refresh rates and 1080p displays, which are the stars of the TECNO Camon 18 series. On the Camon 18, the screen is an LCD screen with 90Hz, while on the Premier, the screen is an AMOLED screen with 120Hz.
I like the, especially for people who use their phones daily to do everything from play games to browse the web to scroll on Instagram or watch Netflix’s You or HBO’s Succession. With the bottom facing speaker and the earpiece placed on the top bezel, you also get stereo sound. There is a noticeable difference in screen brightness at 550 nits. In addition, the screen is more vibrant. Though the screen isn’t AMOLED, the blacks are deep, making watching shows even more enjoyable.
On the back, the colour gradient design is very eye-catching. Even though the back is gorgeous, fingerprints can be seen on it, so the included case would be useful. Three colours are available to choose from Dusk Grey (our unit), Iris Purple, and Ceramic White. Playing high refresh rate games, browsing the web and scrolling social media are all greatly enhanced by the 90Hz refresh rate. It offers a truly great display experience.
Also impressive are the design elements. A quick fingerprint reader is integrated into the power button right below the volume rockers of the Camon 18. A Type-C port that supports 18W fast charging is found at the bottom of the device. We also find Tecno Camon 18 headphone jack, microphone and speaker grille. In addition to a bigger camera bump, the housing for the camera lens is also bigger. In addition to the 48 MP camera set-up, we have a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor.
Camon 18 Performance :
TECNO Camon 18 is equipped with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a Mali G52 GPU. The Camon 18 is powered by Android 11 and HiOS 8. It is also set to be updated to Android 12 and HiOS 8.5 when that update becomes available.
To complement Android’s privacy features, the TECNO phone has also scheduled for its Camon 17 Pro and Phantom X to get the new update first. Other privacy-enhancing features include TECNO’s in-house Za-Hook Security Solution 2.0 which offers Peek Proof, Anti-theft Alert, Pop-up blockers, App Twins with Fingerprint, and Privacy Auth.
Camon 18 Battery Life :
The overall performance of the TECNO Camon 18 and its battery life is amazing. A 5000mAh battery powers the Camon 18 along with a fast Type-C charger. The charging process is pretty fast as well, as 44 minutes of juice takes you from 1% to 46% in 46 minutes. A full charge will take you from empty to 96% in an hour and 48 minutes.
Camon 18 CAMERA :
There are three cameras on the back of the TECNO Camon 18 – a 48MP main camera, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro lens. With its punch-hole cutout in the centre, the front-facing camera has a 16MP resolution. With this camera, you can play around with various photo and video modes, such as the Super Night Mode, video bokeh mode, wide selfie, portrait as well as short videos. A video can be shot at a resolution of 2K – also useful for timelapse. You will have to stick with standard video mode when you want to use the bokeh mode, as video beauty mode is also capped at 720p.
One of the most interesting modes is the film mode, which offers customizable video templates for parties, performances, vintage, beats, travel, sports, holiday, family, and many more; you also get a variety of transitions, camera moves, and music options.
