We already know what to expect from Android 13, which will be released later this year. The first developer preview was released in February and the first beta in April. Let’s discuss the best features coming in Android 13.
-Android 13 brings back Google Wallet. Google Wallet has returned nearly a decade after being phased out by Android Wallet, Android Pay, Google Pay, and now back to Google Wallet.
It will be much more than just an application to store your credit and debit cards with Google Wallet. Additionally, it will hold your ID cards, shot cards, transit passes, gift cards, and eventually your car keys.
-This year, Android 13 will add much-needed permission. It will allow apps to send you notifications. Many apps send notifications, but some are unnecessary and can be annoying. In the future, apps will need your permission to send you notifications, so you won’t be bothered by these spam notifications.
-With Android 13, it gets more tweaks with Material You, which was announced last year with Android 12. As an example, you can now choose even more accent colors, depending on your wallpaper. In addition to system apps, it will also include third-party app icons this year. Media controls have also been added to Material You.
-The multimedia controls appear to be something that is renewed in each version of Android. In Android 13, the music player has been revamped again, and now you’ll see a wavy animated wave as the music plays. You can now also view album artwork in the media player. It appears both on the lock screen and in the notification tone.
-Interestingly, Android 13 is actually taking some cues from iOS here and adopting the same photo selection options as iOS. This feature allows you to choose which photos and videos an app has access to. Instead of giving the app access to your entire photo library. Instead, you will be able to choose which folders the app can access.
-Using the iPhone’s camera, you can scan QR codes in seconds. With Android, you can’t do that. With Android 13, you can do that. With Android 13, you can scan QR codes directly from Quick Settings. Now you can easily scan a QR code with just a few taps by swiping down.
-Android 13 adds many new features to the clipboard. You’ll now see a little floating panel appear at the bottom of the screen when you copy something. Using this floating panel, you can view and edit the content of your clipboard without pasting it anywhere. You also get relevant options based on the type of content you are copying.
-Android 12L has already brought a lot of changes to larger screens, such as foldable and tablets. With Android 13, Google is taking things one step further. More than 20 of its own apps will be updated to take advantage of the extra space. The company is also working with third-party app developers to take advantage of the space. These include TikTok, Zoom, Facebook, and others. The Play Store will now also display tablet-optimized apps first. This applies only to tablets and foldable.
-Google adds new privacy features to Android with every release, and this time we’ve got even more. In Android 13, the security and privacy settings page builds on those of Android 12. This will give the user a clear indication of their security status. Additionally, it can provide guidance to the user on how to improve their security.
There are a few other minor privacy changes here as well. Apps no longer need location access to scan WiFi networks. Additionally, Android 13 automatically deletes clipboard history after a short period of time.
-Android 12 includes Google’s Emergency SOS feature, which allows you to contact a trusted person and share emergency information without unlocking your phone. With Android 13, this feature will now work on Wear OS watches like the Galaxy Watch 4 and the upcoming Pixel Watch.
-Apple should adopt RCS messaging, but Google is pushing them to do so. Android 13 also adds a bunch of improvements for RCS. Group chats in Messages will be encrypted later this year, just as 1:1 conversations already are. Additionally, RCS will support sharing higher quality photos and larger files.
-Here, you can choose a language for each individual app, which is a pretty simple feature. If you speak more than one language and maybe you speak one language with your friends and family and another with everyone else, you can set WhatsApp or Telegram to that language. You can choose to have the rest of your phone in English or any other language you want.
