Samsung’s upcoming smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold4, has been leaked again. Ice Universe, another notable Android Twitter tipster, has revealed that the phone’s screen will have a less prominent crease.

A leaker claims that the crease will still exist when the phone is unfolded, but that it will be smoother than in previous iterations. This will fix an issue that has plagued Samsung’s Fold line since its first version, the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Samsung’s original Galaxy Fold had a plastic cover protecting its main screen, which had a prominent crease. If you were using the phone indoors or outdoors, this would cause an annoying glare. Samsung has been working to fix this flaw but has not overcome it completely.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold3 ditched the plastic cover in favor of ultra-thin glass. The hinge has also been improved to make it more durable than before. Even with the improvements, the crease still exists, but it is less noticeable.

However, this problem is not insurmountable. Chinese tech company Oppo has launched a foldable phone in China that dramatically reduces visible wrinkles. Additionally, Motorola’s 2019 Razr phone accomplished the same task by using a clever hinge design.

Considering previous release dates, we can expect the Galaxy Z Fold4 to arrive sometime in late summer 2022. Nevertheless, there is still time for changes to be made and then leaked, so stay tuned for more news as we move forward.
