ASUS is going to announce a new device named, ” Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders“. And definitely, it is the actual name of the device. Snapdragon Insiders go along with Qualcomm’s social media initiative called “Snapdragon Insiders” and on this, the company goes to open up more community channels on different social media platforms which provide closer interaction to Snapdragon fans.
This smartphone ” Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders” or simply called the SSI is a product of the cooperation between Qualcomm and ASUS. Qualcomm rigidly designed the SSI and ASUS made it. There are many similarities found between SSI and ASUS’s ROG Phone 5 in regards to specifications, dimensions, and overall design of the phone. Both phones Snapdragon Insiders and ASUS’s ROG Phone 5 have similar features, similar internal parts, and somewhat external design.
Snapdragon Insiders And ASUS’s ROG 5 Phone are both powered by Snapdragon 888. The same body structure and thermal designs of both phones are similar and it seems that the general performance of both smartphones is also similar. As Snapdragon Insiders storage is concerned, there is no noteworthy change in terms of storage and RAM. Snapdragon Insiders comes with 16GB LPDDR5 and 512GB USF 3.1 storage.
Snapdragon Insiders has a 6.78 display with a 2448 x 1080 AMOLED panel that can run up to 144HZ refresh rate and it comes from Samsung. The display is also identical to that of the ROG Phone 5. If we compare Snapdragon Insiders designs with ROG we also find similarities in terms of design but the notable change in SSI is that it is 0.35mm thinner and 20g lighter. It also has the same feature of 65W USB-PD 3.0 charging ability.
The other noteworthy change in SSI is that this phone has a rear fingerprint sensor which is not available on ib ROG 5 Phone. This rear sensor is Qualcomm’s 2nd gen sonic sensor. But here the issue is that such types of sensors are able into flexible OLED pannels but in Snapdragon Insiders is used a solid glass substrate variant is.
In terms of designs, we found some other changes in Snapdragon Insiders, the dual nano-sim change from the bottom to the left side which is next to the USB-C connector. The strange thing is that the 3.5mm jack is disappeared and the speaker of the phone is bottom facing not front-facing. Snapdragon Insiders has an extract of DXOMark Audio review and it is a “Snapdragon Sound” experience, its performance is worse than Rog 5.
In terms of cameras, we also find similarities between Snapdragon Insiders and Rog 5 Phone.
The Snapdragon Insidersis equipped with 64MP IMX686 with an f/1.8 lens main camera with IOS. Here is the difference of OIS but both have the same camera module. Snapdragon Insiders is also equipped with an 8MP camera with 3x optical zoom and a third camera is with f/2.4 optics and OIS.
Snapdragon Insiders has a selfie camera of 24 MP with an f/2.45 aperture. The one feature which is certainly different is the SSI network and cellular connectivity. The big advantage of Snapdragon Insiders is that this device is a mmWave device. Qualcomm claims about Snapdragon Insiders that it is the device that supports all global frequency bands and this thing makes it a universal phone in a real sense.
The accessory that comes with SSI is a pair of Snapdragon branded wireless earbuds. Snapdragon Insiders is sold at $1499. Snapdragon Insiders is a combination of specifications and it is very different from the other phones. The smartphone Snapdragon Insiders will be available in August. This phone is available in ASUS’eShop only in selective countries.
